A Rock and Roll History

All my lines are well rehearsed. All my sins are fully endorsed.

Wax - California (Dir. Spike Jonze)

Two birds one stone: I’m moving to Southern California tomorrow and the music video that launched the career of one of my favorite directors.

J. Cole - Who Dat?

Some slick visuals for the single by Jay-Z protege J. Cole. The video, which is all one take, is pretty cool and it’s certainly nice to see a North Carolina rapper (Fayetteville) getting some national attention. Note that UNC hat he’s got on for most of the video.

Journey - Faithfully

A little music for when you return from the bar on a Saturday night. Listen to it once and tell me you won’t be singing it drunk later. You can’t. It’s not possible. I’m sure I’ll be yelling it out in Hollywood in a few hours. You’re welcome world.

Little known fact: the first 1/2 of this video depicts Steve Perry’s “I want to be like John Oates” phase when he had a mustache. It also features the “my mustache doesn’t define who I am phase” where he shaves off the titular mustache (this phase is also known as almost all of his career). Again, you’re welcome.

Kid Cudi - Erase Me (Feat. Kanye West)

An excellent video for an excellent song (that samples Duran Duran). In it, we are transported to an alternate universe in which it’s the 1970s and the Jimi Hendrix Experience is made up of Kid Cudi, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Clark Duke.

Walk the Moon - Anna Sun

I can’t even remember how I stumbled across this band a few days ago, but I have already played this song several million times. It’s amazing to me that this band is unsigned. You can listen to/buy the rest of their album HERE
