There’s been some stuff in the news recently about the surge in the number of female suicide bombers in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is a terrifying development as it women tend to be searched much less thoroughly than men in our lawsuit happy society for obvious reasons. However, these stories raise another question that I want answered: what do these female bombers get?
Male suicide bombers...

The woman who played Nana Cohen on the OC (Linda Lavin) came into the restaurant this morning. She comes in pretty regularly and I’m always tempted to ask her why she was so mean to someone as amazing as Summer. However, I’m not sure she would appreciate it. She’s probably been on stuff she is a lot more proud of and would not like to only be remembered for being in three...

I was really disappointed today. I was at the gym and I heard something amazing. The kind of thing that only comes along once in a while: a great, “That’s what she said.”
So, here’s the scenario: I’m working out and I hear a personal trainer talking to one of his clients in one corner of the room, “Remember to breathe while you’re down there.” Boom....

I wonder if high school teachers know how important the random stuff they do really is. I’m not talking about grading, though that is important as you do need to get into college, but I’m really talking about stuff like seating. How a teacher chooses to seat kids can have a great affect on their lives. For example, I met my first girlfriend and best friend because we both had...

I just finished Chuck Klosterman’s Fargo Rock City. Like his five other books, I loved it. Also like all of his other books, he takes a very personal approach to pop culture analysis. In this one, he mounts a defense for 1980s metal music he grew up listening to. Over the course of the book, he examines what exactly it was about this music that appealed to a teenager in a tiny North Dakota...

Hot Tub Time Machine Red Band Trailer
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am going to see this movie. I don’t care that I will be living in LA at that point and movie tickets will be way higher than $7. I will pay that shit. You could just play the clip of Craig Robinson saying, “hot tub time machine” and I’d be sold.

I read this book my senior year of high school and enjoyed it more than any of Ellis’ other stuff. However, that may have been because it’s really short and doesn’t feature Patrick Bateman gratuitously murdering somebody in a very...

I love living in the South for days like yesterday and today. It’s the middle of January and I’ve been driving around with the windows down. It is 62 right now and it was 71 yesterday. In Montana, it is currently below freezing and snowing. This is why I will never be able to live anywhere north of the Mason Dixon Line (with the possible exceptions of San Francisco or Portland). Much...

After reading this, I’m sure glad they’re taking him off TV. Clearly he has no talent, unless making people laugh can be considered a talent.
Last night I planned on being in bed by midnight. Instead, I went to bed over three hours later, and now I have to work a seven hour shift at the restaurant starting at 8. Needless to say, I shouldn’t go out at all when it’s one of my friend’s birthdays and I have to work the next day. I have no real self control and one drink is never that. The night ended with every member of...

This clip from last night’s Conan is hilarious and the end pretty much shows exactly how he feels about Jay Leno.
A woman called in to the station today because she was terrified/certain that the earthquake in Haiti was going to cause a catastrophic tsunami here in NC. She also stated that she felt that we were not fulfilling our social obligation to inform/warn people of this impending disaster. In real life, she is simply crazy, but if this were a movie on the SyFy channel, she would be the only voice of...
Daniel Tosh on Steroid Use in Baseball
This whole Mark McGwire thing is ridiculous. He claims that he’s been wanting to admit to using steroids since 2005. Really? He also claims that he only did it for health reasons and not to make himself stronger. I think it’s hilarious that he’s so blatantly lying while he admits to something. I don’t think anyone has ever viewed...
Conan went after NBC completely last night. After this monologue, particularly the funny but obviously bitter very end of this clip, it’s hard to imagine him staying with a network that has shown a complete lack of appreciation for him. I would like to cite Gary Busey, as Conan does in this clip and one should often do when pondering big issues in life, as he said on his Twitter page,...
Bands I listen to Un-Ironically
wordsbycodi:
Journey
Yeah, I really do actually enjoy Journey. Yeah I said it, fuck you. I get really pumped when a Journey song comes on the radio. And YES they are on my ipod. Well, the first TOW albums at least, and I do jam to them more then most people I know. I think Steve Perry has an amazing voice, and most their songs are really great. There’s a reason why Journey (the band) comes...
Free Gucci: Best of the Cold War Mixtapes →
Diplo and a couple of the other DJs over at Mad Decent remixed a ton of Gucci tracks. While I don’t support the Free Gucci movement as it’s retarded (he got sent back to jail for failing to do the community service required of his probation. Not exactly a wild judicial injustice.), I do support this mixtape. Generally, as Gucci has no real flow and generally the beats on his albums...
I think it would be cool to party with Lady GaGa. My friend Ben and I had this discussion yesterday. He posited that the same would be true of Marilyn Manson. Now, I’m not a huge fan of le GaGa. Her obvious hits are certainly catchy and I like her decision to depict the dark side of fame in her songs (which she was writing before she became famous. This is an interesting twist on the idea of...
